Welcome from Mrs. Blair
Welcome to the wonderful world of Kindergarten! My name is Teressa Blair. I was born and raised in Siloam Springs, Arkansas and am still an avid Razorback fan. I attended college in Bethany, Oklahoma and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 1982. I taught kindergarten for one year at the laboratory school on campus while doing graduate studies. I came to Owasso in 1983 and taught at Barnes Elementary for 4 years. After taking a few years off to be a stay-at-home mom, I came back to teaching in 1992 at Hodson Elementary. I continued teaching at Hodson until Northeast Elementary opened in 2001 and I moved over here. This year will be my 32nd year of teaching kindergarten!!
On a personal note I am married with 3 grown children. My husband, Frank Blair, teaches Outdoor Ed at the 8th grade center and coaches football. My oldest son, Brett, is 31 years old and is married to our lovely daughter-in-law Chriss. Brett is a meteorologist and works for the Oklahoma Dept. of Environmental Quality in the Ozone Division. Chriss is a nurse at the heart hospital in Norman. My second son, Taylor, is 29 years old and has a degree in Music Education from the University of Arkansas. He is a worship pastor at a church in Roanoke Virginia. We also have a beautiful daughter, Jenna, who is 20 and is attending Tulsa Tech.
Kindergarten is such an exciting year. Everything will be new through the eyes of your child. Whether this is your first child in kindergarten or your last, I encourage you to relax and enjoy the journey. One of my favorite quotes is: "Childhood should be a journey, not a race." We want our kindergarten students to have so much fun at school, that they forget they are learning at the same time. Our classroom is a very busy place! We have a good mixture of large group activities, small center-based groups, small teacher-directed groups, and independent activities. We look forward to a great school year!!!
